 Meet farmers that produce beef in Lunenburg County. Tour the farm, viewing rotational grazing of cow/calves on grass (approximately 30 cow/calf pairs) and a wrapped hay/haylage demonstration. This beef is raised for the consumer and farm markets with no growth hormones or chemicals.

22.Blueberry Acres

Activities: Blueberry U-pick Experience (may be bused to the field; depends what field is ready to be picked). Blueberry Acres has boxes (hold 10-12lbs) that are used in the field and to carry you’re berries home in.  Bring a container (I.e. 2 L ice cream) with strap (I.e. long shoe laces or  scarf) to pick the berries in off the bushes before dumping into box. Food will be available on site, provided by “Blue Bistro”.

23.Wild Mountain Farm

Directions to Farm: If you’re coming to the farm, we are on the shore of the Bay of Fundy,25 minutes North of Kentville. From Kentville go downtown, and go over the Cornwallis River(Big green bridge), go through the lights and follow Hwy 359 to Aldershot Steam Mill and Centreville and go up over the North Mountain. At the top of the hill take the second right(Gospel Road), Then take your first left (gravel road called Long Beach Rd) follow Long Beach Road for 4.5 km until you come to a sharp corner at the Bay of Fundy shore. Here, Long Beach Road turns into Old Baxters Mill Road, and our driveway goes in between the two road signs, to the left. You will see a bright yellow mailbox, the drive is long with a steep hill on it!

Activities: Visit our pastured pigs and beef cows, along with our quacky ducks, our clucky hens and our little Jersey milk cow “KC”. Lance will explain our Local GoodNS food delivery to homes in HRM and Southwest Nova. We’ll have our pit BBQ going for anyone who wants to pre-order their favorite cuts on our website and we’ll cook them up (www.wildmountainfarm.ca). We are on the shore of the Bay of Fundy, which is always cool on a hot day in the Valley, so plan time for a beach walk!

Activities: Join us for a BBQ from 11am-2pm, signature spice shop will be joining us to sell local spices. All proceeds from the BBQ will go to support five local men and women who are travelling to Benin, West Africa, to build housing for displaced people suffering from HIV/AIDS. They will be constructing an irrigation system run by a pump well, to sustain fertile gardens during the seasons of drought, building living quarters and an animal shelter. This project will allow people who are suffering from HIV/AIDS a welcoming place to stay and the ability to grow and sell their produce, to support themselves and their families.

Activities:  We offer free wagon rides around the orchard. Tour takes approx. 10 mins. We also encourage free sampling of all you can eat apples while U-Picking. There are washroom facilities and a picnic area.

34. Avondale Sky Winery

Activities:  There will be regular tours of our vineyard and wine tasting (19+ years), and we will talk about our vineyard practices and our environmentally friendly practices we use. Neighbors will be bringing their Norwegian Fjord horses to our estate as well that day.
